台积电晶圆厂计划引发抗议

元器件交易网讯 12月28日消息，据台湾经济新闻报道，台积电准备建立一个450mm晶圆厂的计划已在台湾引起了抗议。

抗议活动由位于台中市台湾中部科技园附近的居民和市政服务代表组织，而台积电的450mm晶圆厂也准备建在那里。

据传闻，这个工厂将耗资137亿美元。

台湾中部科技园负责人表示政府计划和台积电联手该园区投资。该园区能创造7000各个工作机会，并且到2019年，每年能带来68亿美元的创收。政府计划投资2.32亿美元。

Protests over 450mm fab  

Protests have been held in Taiwan over TSMC's plan to build a 450mm fab, reports the Taiwan Economic News.

The protests came from local residents and council representatives in the area near to the Central Taiwan Science Park near Taichung City where the 450mm fab is to be located.

The protesters complain that factories in the park are illegally discharging sewage at night, polluting the atmosphere and making the area susceptible to flooding.

It is said that it is expected the fab will cost US$13.7bn.

The administrators of the Central Taiwan Science Park say  it is planned that government investment of  US$232m in the park will create 7,000 jobs and annual revenues of $6.8bn by 2019 with semiconductor manufacturers being the biggest investgors.

TSMC's intention is to start building the 450mm fab in Q1 2014.
